ABOUT

20 miles north-west of Charleston, Summerville became an official town in 1847, after early development by plantation owners who resided in the Charleston, SC and wanted to escape the summer insects and heat. Today each spring more than 100,000 people ascend on Summerville for their annual “Flowertown Festival”. This three-day event is one of the largest arts and crafts festivals in the south. Visitors and residents enjoy food, music, tours, exhibits and other activities amid azaleas and dogwood trees. 


Golfers enjoy outstanding golf courses at Crowfield Plantation, Legend Oaks, Pine Forest Country Club, Coosaw Creek Country Club and Wescott Plantation. Downtown Summerville has re-developed into a new restaurant and arts district, with bistros and pubs under the original historic architecture. Summerville is also known for some of Charleston most desirable public schools.


Real estate in Summerville is deep and varied. The town has an abundance of houses and lower taxes than neighboring cities with options for singles, families or retirees. Neighborhoods and planned community developments offer starter homes, condominiums, townhomes, and single family homes to restored homes in the historic district.
