In June of 1776, the battle of Sullivan's Island became the first Patriot victory of the Revolutionary War. To this day huge old homes that served as officer's quarters until mid-century still stand as private family residences. Since its incorporation residential lots were required to have a minimum of ½ acre and the same is true today. There are no hotels, and only two multi-family housing buildings on Sullivan's Island, it’s a residential community, tightly integrated with Charleston history. This historic barrier island north of Charleston Harbor offers miles of public beach. A small village center hosts a popular eating district as restaurants line two blocks of Middle Street. 


Just 15 minutes from downtown Charleston, SI is home to many year-round residents, and well as many second homes. Children of Sullivan's Island attended Sullivan's Island Elementary and highly rated Mt. Pleasant schools. Sullivan's Island offers a wide range of historic and modest homes to new elegant custom builds and finally multimillion dollar residences overlooking the ocean, the intracoastal and scenic Charleston harbor.
